Description

Confession: For a large chunk of my life I thought Beethoven’s Für Elise, which I learned in childhood playing the piano, was the same thing as the fleur de lis commonly associated with New Orleans. Duh.

This piece is a continuation of my “Winter – Take It Away Kid” method of iterating buried image transfers under decreasing layers of encaustic, with the final iteration being a 3D printed version of the image.

The gaslamp in my front yard has always fascinated me. It was the subject of my first exercise in Photoshop to crop out the background house and trees so that I could incorporate the image in my artwork. I later converted it into physical pieces using my 3D printer.

This was one of three gaslamp pieces I featured in my Heatstroke exhibition at Archway Gallery.
