The city of New Orleans has inspired many of my paintings, through use of the fleur de lis and it’s variations, gas lamps, and wrought iron fences. The sight of local artists lining Jackson Square selling their artworks was an early driver for my dream of doing something similar, like the art festivals I now participate in.
This painting utilized black construction paper for the fence and another upper layer of yellow paper for the fleur de lis. Highlighted surface etchings complete the upper layer. I decided to give these series of paintings the names of the streets in the French Quarter.
